Benefits of Warrior I Yoga Pose

When practicing warrior I yoga pose, you will find many benefits. This pose is great for flexibility and balance. In addition, it can help improve your posture and overall strength. If you are new to yoga, this pose is a great place to start.

To do warrior I, begin on all fours with hands and feet together. Keep your back straight. Place your knees directly below your hips and press down into the ground. Now raise your torso up so that your shoulders are above the wrists and thighs are parallel to the floor (A). Hold this position for 5 breaths then slowly lower back down to starting position (B).

How to do Warrior I Yoga Pose

This is one of the most challenging poses in the yoga sequence. It works your entire body and sets up the entire rest of the sequence. Begin on all fours with feet flat on the floor, shoulder-width apart, palms flat on either side of your mat. Relax your shoulders and lift your head and tailbone off the floor. Keeping your spine neutral, lift your hips until you are in a seated position with thighs parallel to each other and torso in line with arms. Hold for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then release and repeat on opposite side.
